WHAT IS MENOPAUSE?

For women, it means the cessation of menstrual bleeding. In order for a person to be diagnosed with menopause, menstruation must stop for six to twelve months. The period before menopause is called premenopause. In the premenopausal period, ovulation in women becomes irregular. This is due to insufficient estrogen secretion or resistance of the follicles to ovulation stimulation.

WHEN DOES MENOPAUSE START? MENOPAUSE AGE

  • Usually between the ages of 45 and 55.
  • Under 45 is usually early menopause.
  • Over 55 is late menopause.

CAUSES OF MENOPAUSE

When a woman is born, she has about one million eggs. By puberty, this number drops to between 300,000 and 400,000. Only about 400 mature during a woman’s childbearing years. In her 50s, she has only a few eggs left.

The absence of active follicles leads to a decrease in estrogen and progesterone production. The decrease in the amount of estrogen increases the secretion of FSH and LH in the pituitary gland. For this reason, after menopause, there is an increase in FSH and LH secretions.

WHY DO YOU GAIN WEIGHT DURING MENOPAUSE?

One of the most important problems of menopause for women is sudden weight gain. Even in women who do not have weight problems, fat gain occurs with menopause, especially in the abdomen and fat area. Because the production of estrogen continues in the fat tissues, albeit in small amounts.

WRONG DIETS IN MENOPAUSE:

With the sudden weight gain in menopause, women aim for rapid weight loss and resort to wrong diets. Each wrong diet causes the person to gain more weight than the pre-diet weight. It also causes;

  • Deterioration in bone health
  • Increased tendency to osteoporosis
  • Decreased function of the immune system.

Female smoking causes early menopause, increased mineral loss from bones, and the development of many diseases.

DISORDERS THAT CAN BE SEEN DURING MENOPAUSE

1) Cardiovascular diseases:
Cholesterol increases with decreasing estrogen levels. Excess cholesterol causes blockages in the blood vessels. The risk of heart attack and stroke increases.

2) Fat around the waist;
Even if the daily diet and calorie intake do not change during menopause, waist circumference thickens, and abdominal fat increases.

It must be treated; if left untreated, the fat in the abdomen and waist area doubles.

HOW TO SLIM DOWN WAIST AND ABDOMINAL CIRCUMFERENCE DURING MENOPAUSE?

A correct treatment method should be applied to prevent the waist and abdominal fat ratio from becoming permanent and to reduce the fat ratio. Top of the list of these treatments is the Vanquish contactless aesthetic application. Vanquish is an application proven by the FDA to burn fat from the abdominal area, providing an average of 2-3 cm slimming in each session/week. Thanks to the high heat, it melts the fat formed in the adipose tissue in the abdomen and waist area and ensures that it is removed from the body with daily metabolism.

NUTRITION IN MENOPAUSE - WHAT SHOULD MENOPAUSAL WOMEN DO? MENOPAUSAL DIET

  • A correct and completely personalized nutrition program should be applied. It should be questioned whether the person has conditions such as insulin resistance and thyroid disorders together with menopause, and a correct treatment program should be followed.
  • A diet rich in calcium should be followed. A meal schedule that should pay attention to the calcium phosphorus ratio should be programmed. Animal protein can be reduced.
  • Serum vitamin D level should be checked, and vitamin D supplements should be taken under the supervision of a doctor if necessary.
  • Salt and sodium intake should be reduced.
  • Phytoestrogen-rich foods should be consumed. Soy foods, celery, flaxseed, chickpeas and nuts are among the sources of phytoestrogens.
